Cynthia Burr 1786 Replica “Sampler” Framed Print

This is a rare find- a reproduction print of an actual antique sampler. On the bottom it reads: Cynthia Burr is my name & with my needle wrought thee fame. On the top it says March 8, 1786; and lower, Cynthia Burr was born May 21,1770. That would make her 16 when this beautiful needlepoint was done. It would make sense that this work is from Providence Rhode Island, because the area is known for beautiful needlework with dense florals, architectural scenes, people, animals and trees; and this sampler has them all. Also, the date 1786 corresponds nicely to the style of clothing being depicted- the men are still wearing the knickers, or short pants. This was a very artistic piece of work- and 222 years later, the historical value is immense.

Very Nice Historical print. About 18" x 20". The frame is wood and is painted green with gold trim. Glass and cardboard backing with a sawtooth hook on back for hanging. Some wear on the frame (scratches at the top and some loss of paint)
